When I was a teacher, I remember having to weekly appoint various students to be the line leader. That seemed to smooth out potential problems. After all, without a clear plan, doesn’t everyone try to rush to the beginning of the line? This is an area that we have had to work on with our daughter. At her gymnastics class, they are frequently lining up at different stations. She, along with the rest of the class, always try to rush to the beginning. We have had to remind her that letting others go first is okay. This is a lesson that I often struggle to live out myself.
I started my first blog yesterday. About two things I feel passionate about – creating experiences with my kids (and my husband) while exploring the good life (Nebraska!) http://odysseythroughnebraska.wordpress.com/
Although I am new to my own blogging domain, for 2 years, I was the publicity coordinator/ blogger for First Free MOPS. (http://firstfreemops.wordpress.com/ from 5/11-5/13)
While I am definitely excited to be writing again and think Nebraska is an excellent topic, there is something missing on that site. My line leader. God. He is the One that I follow.
While my faith will be mentioned at times, for the most part my odyssey blog will be simply about exploring places. I want moms (and even dads) to have a place to find out details about locations across Nebraska that are kid friendly. Since that site is about traveling, my personal reflections will necessarily be limited.
But since even beyond my dear family and friends, God is the One who truly matters to me, I knew that I still need to be able convey the lessons He is teaching me. More for my sake, that I remember His goodness and grace, than even for anyone else. For this verse tells how my life is sometimes. Isaiah 53:6 “All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own.” As a human, I do struggle with wanting life to go me. I do not want to wander, but I do. Thankfully God does not let me go far and brings me back. This is the verse I do want to be true of my life. Psalm 32:8 “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” NLT After many years of following Him, I am confident of this: God is the only line leader that I want!
