Today I wanted to feature another song about angels. These important messengers of God came from His presence and spoke on His behalf. Rather amazing! The Lyrics of “Angels from the Realms of Glory” by Kathryn Jenkins do a beautiful job of connecting to angels to the creation story, to the birth of Christ and to the end when Christ will return. This hymn does not seem to be recorded very often today, so that I why I am excited to feature these lyrics.
Angels from the realms of glory
Wing your flight over all the earth
Ye, who sang creations story
Now proclaim Messiah’s birth
Come and worship, come and worship
Worship Christ the newborn KingShepherds in the fields abiding
Watching over your flocks by night
God with man is now residing
Yonder shines the Infant light
Come and worship, come and worship
Worship Christ the newborn KingSages leave your contemplations
Brighter visions beam afar
Seek the great Desire of nations
Ye have seen His natal star
Come and worship, come and worship
Worship Christ the newborn KingSaints before the alter bending
Watching long in hope and fear
Suddenly the Lord, descending,
In His temple shall appear
Come and worship, come and worship
Worship Christ the newborn King
The Angels Medley Video
As for the video I have chosen to show with this song, many musicians have combined their efforts into a dramatic rendition. This video below features, The Piano Guys, Peter Hollens, David Archuleta, and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. While I am fairly certain that I would disagree with them theologically, I cannot deny that God has gifted them with incredible talent. Why I wanted to feature this particular video is because I think it features what is beautiful about Christmas – family and friends gathering together interspersed with images reenacted from that first Christmas over two thousand years ago. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
