Today our kids are eagerly awaiting their first homeschool track meet. Actually that might not be the case since they do not know what to expect. I am excited about them getting to have this experience. Reflecting back on my own track days, I might have liked hanging out with my friends more than the actual events. Of course – I had chosen long distance events. Eight laps around a track seems to take FOREVER. And you know that perhaps you are not best runner if you are lapped by the leader. Ouch!
I planned on hanging up my running shoes after high school. But somehow well over two decades later, I still try to “run” a few times each week. I am still not very fast, but I do love the way that running makes me feel. When I am done that is.
Toby Mac’s song “Eye on It” is definitely one of my favorite songs to run to – a tune that I will be cranking as we head out today. Based on one particular verse, the words are a great reminder whether we are running or just walking through life. We are to have one goal:
Philippians 3:14 (NIV)
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Whatever your goal is for today, may you keep focused on Him. And this video is one to that will motivate you on your journey. Crank it up! Unless of course you have kids that you want to sleep awhile longer. 🙂
