“All is Well” is on the very first Christmas album that Michael W. Smith recorded back in 1994. That album is still one of my favorite Christmas cd’s. When he re-recorded the song over 20 years later, I was not sure that I would like that version as well. But by turning it into a duet with Carrie Underwood, I think that the song became even more powerful.
Jesus was born into chaos. But as this song reminds us, because of a moment in time, all is well. Everything may not be perfect. Yet we can chose to be saved thanks to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Darkness fell and can no longer have a hold on us. All we need to do is accept the gift. We need to recognize that Jesus is our Savior. Then all will be well for eternity.
All is well (Repeat)
Angels and men rejoice
For tonight darkness fell
Into the dawn of love’s light
Sing A-le
Sing AlleluiaAll is well (Repeat)
Let there be peace on earth
Christ is come go and tell
That He is in the manger
Sing A-le
Sing AlleluiaAll is well (Repeat)
Lift up your voice and sing
Born is now Emmanuel
Born is our Lord and Savior
Sing Alleluia
Sing Alleluia
All is well
For a finale to this year’s Christmas “songs for my Savior” series, ending with these words from Scripture (Isaiah 9: 2, 6 & 7) seems perfect.
2 The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned.6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this
