Waiting 30 minutes in a seated line was worth it last Saturday. Our family had the opportunity to walk through the Tabernacle this week-end. Do not worry – you did not miss some major archeological find. This Tabernacle is a reproduction based on the biblical explanation.
Reading through the Bible every year, I feel that I almost stumble through the Tabernacle section. All of the details provided about the structure and its components can be beyond comprehension since no picture is included in the margins of my Bible. Trying to grasp the significance of this tent of meetings can be challenging.
By being able to walk through the coverings, so much of the Bible is brought to life. Now I more fully understand the significance of this worship song by Dave Browning as well.
Take me past the outer courts
Into the holy place
Past the brazen altar
Lord, I want to see your facePass me by the crowds of people
The priests who sing your praise
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
And it’s only found one placeTake me in to the Holy of Holies
Take me in by the blood of the Lamb
Take me in to the Holy of Holies
Take the coal, cleanse my lips, here I am
Take the coal, cleanse my lips, here I am
To glimpse into a reproduction of what many Israelites never even saw is monumental. To put wood on the brazen altar. To wash in the laver. To present incense before the Holy of Holies. All experiences that will add a rich understanding to my reading of the Bible.
You can see more pictures and found out more details about this opportunity at the TabernacleExperience.com. If you live in the Lincoln area, I would highly recommend that you take the time THIS WEEK ONLY to go to the The Tabernacle Experience at YFC Lincoln. By visiting this site, you can make recommended reservations and decide which time works for you. You can find out more of the logistical details on my Odyssey Through Nebraska site. You can also watch this video prepared by Lincoln Youth for Christ for the event.
