Most of my album choice are somewhat methodical. The Relient K “Let It Snow, Let It Reindeer” was an impulse purchase several years ago. The album is as fun as it sounds. Yet while several of the songs make me smile, this one made me cry.
The main time that I get to listen to music, at least the songs on my own playlists, is while I am exercising. I had heard the song “I Celebrate the Day” many times before, yet for whatever reason the lyrics really hit me one December morning. Tears and a treadmill are probably not the best combination, so I paused my exercising and really listened.
And the first time that you opened your eyes
Did you realize that you would be my Savior
And the first breath that left your lips
Did you know that it would change this world forever
And I celebrate the day
That you were born to die
So I could one day
Pray for you to save my life
What is left to say but “Thank you, Jesus, for coming. For choosing to save us. We can never, ever repay you. You will always be the best gift of all.”
